It is our desire to show in different ways that God loves all.
The manifestation of this is community outreach. The Lincoln Congregation
is involved in many aspects of the lives of those who live in Lincoln
and surrounding areas.
::: Serving Others :::
The following are examples of that outreach:
The Ambassador
Once a month the congregation provides a worship service to the residents
of The Ambassador Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. We have provided an Easter
Service for them and filled in when other pastors were unable to make their scheduled time.
Friendship Home
The Lincoln Community of Christ has partnered with Friendship Home
for several years to provide emergency food baskets requested by Friendship Home staff.
In 2007 that totalled over 150 mothers and children. Friendship Home is a safe house
for abused women and children providing them a place to get a new start. The
congregation's outreach includes Easter baskets for the children, Thanksgiving
and Christmas dinners and more.
Gathering Place
Three-four times a year the congregation prepares and serves a meal
for those who come to the Gathering Place. Anywhere from 50 to 100 people are served
in this no-questions asked, come and eat, setting providing meals for the homeless and hungry.
Meals on Wheels
Four teams of members drive one of the routes for the Tabitha Meals on Wheels program every
Monday of the month. Meals on Wheels is a nutritional meal delivery program for the shut-ins
and elderly. One of the members is on call as a "Snow Angel" when the weather is bad enough
others can not make for their route.
FreeRice.com
We have recently been made aware of a wonderful opportunity for all to feed the world using a fun, educational tool.
It is called FreeRice.com. Check it out and provide grains of rice for the hungry
all over the world as you increase your vocabulary.
